Arden, NC (August 28, 2009) – After a 20 year break, Sonlite Records and the Down East Boys have re-united their relationship in a new long term record contract. The Down East Boys started their career in the mid 80’s by singing throughout the eastern Carolina coast. They signed their first national recording contract In 1989 with Sonlite Records. They recorded their first national hit song, Beautiful Valley, in that same year. In 1991, they received the prestigious Horizon Artist fan award, from the Singing News magazine. Since then, the Down East Boys have gone on to record over 30 top 40 chart hits and work for an elite group of concert promoters and churches all across the U.S. and Canada. The group consist of Ricky Carden, the group owner and manager, as well as Jason Runnels, Stuart Cary and Daryl Paschal.

“I had been thinking about approaching Ricky a couple of years ago about renewing the relationship”, said Chris White, the President of Sonlite Records and Crossroads executive. Ironically, he had been having some of the same thoughts as well. So, we simply sat down one day and began to talk. We concluded that we felt this renewal would be good for both of us. Ricky learned how to negotiate contracts from Claude Hopper so I had to hold my ground but we “gotter done”, White added.

“It really feels good to be back into a label relationship that I feel confident about”, states Carden. I have worked with Chris, Greg Bentley and other members of the Crossroads staff long enough to completely trust being in their hands. It takes a lot off of me to know that I now have a team of professionals that will help us to grow our ministry in the coming years”, Carden added.

The new project titled “One Day”, produced by Danny Crawford, is scheduled for release to retail on October, 20th, 2009.
