James & Jeff Easter: Media Love
Adam Borden, Singing News, March 2014
From the first notes of “Like Father, Like Son,” James and Jeff strike a sweet family harmony that hearkens back to the legendary duo Charlie and Ira Louvin, who had a string of hit Country and Gospel songs in the 1950s and 1960s.
James and Jeff Easter’s recording together is a prodigious effort! This effort is memorable for the father and son duo but also for the gospel community. James, long time member of the infamous Easter Brothers and Jeff being descended from that heritage and creating his own legacy with wife Sheri. They have created a very special project indeed.
Like Father, Like Son joins James Easter of the legendary Easter Brothers with his son Jeff, of the award-winning duo Jeff & Sheri Easter for a special recorded event. The result is an album that tells the story of the timeless relationships between both an earthly father and son, all the while reminding us of our important relationship with our Heavenly Father and the gift He gave us in His Son.
It’s easier to build strong children than to repair broken men. We live in a culture of the absentee dad. … Thus, to hear Jeff Easter (of Jeff and Sheri Easter) singing together with his 81 year-old dad James Easter (of the Easters) is more than just an exercise in sentimentalism. Rather, listening to how the father and son interact with each other trading lines that exalt the Lord Jesus Christ and the wholesomeness of Godly parenting is itself an object lesson for all of us. For there is nothing more important for us than to cement a foundation of Godliness for the next generation to build upon.
